The Sikh community is no stranger to battling hate.
 Our response has always been defense and generosity.  We are not afraid to defend ourselves and we are not afraid to share with all in our community.  The KYN initiative was begun by the Jakara Movement after a hate assault in Fresno, CA in 2013.  It is an opportunity to connect and share with our neighbors, create a renewed sense of civic engagement and optimism, and build leadership amongst our youth. We hope you'll join us!

We began the "Meet the Neighbors" initiative back in 2013 and served pizzas to the Southwest Fresno community after the attack on Baba Piara Singh. We have continued it in Selma in 2014, in West Fresno in 2015, in Kerman, and in Livingston.  This time we will be doing it in Bakersfield.

We will be sharing pizzas with 150 families around the Bakersfield Gurdwaras areas. This neighborly gesture is meant to meet our neighbors and let them get to know us better through the way that Sikhs do best, food! Join us from 5-8pm either on Thursday (we will be handing out the initial flyer), Friday (we will be handing out the pizzas), and on Saturday from 2-4pm (we will have an open-house at Stine Gurdwara). 

Come out with your family and help us serve against hate. If you can't make it, we do need your help raising money and donate that way. We are handing out 150 pizzas at at a cost of $5 for a total cost of $750. Make a contribution through www.jakara.org/donate
