Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa!
Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
Many of us have a strong desire to help others. Some choose to become doctors or nurses and care for patients. Some choose to become farmers and grow food for us. Some choose to become engineers and make life easier for people. Some choose to become truck or taxi drivers and provide transportation for goods and people. Some choose to become lawyers and advise those in need.
For many years, I wanted to serve my community but I struggled finding a role that allowed me to help every member of the community and focus on multiple issues. I finally found that position as a community organizer through the Jakara Movement.
It feels like many of my past experiences have prepared me for this role. Studying astrophysics during college has strengthened my ability to problem solve and think outside the box. Interning in Congress has given me experience with policy work and how our government functions. Teaching high school physics in Brooklyn has enabled me to see Waheguru in everyone. I plan to use these experiences to guide my upcoming work.
I look forward to working directly with the Sacramento and Yuba City communities and connecting with the larger California sangat.
