For too long, West of 99 Fresno has been left behind when it comes to thoughtful planning, safe infrastructure, and equitable investment. The West Area Specific Plan gives our community a long-overdue roadmap for responsible growth, one that includes sidewalks, safe roads, parks, schools, and access to clean water and services. Without it, development continues unevenly, leaving families without the basic infrastructure every neighborhood deserves. It also allows other regions to continue to take precedent. This has to end.
We call on the Fresno City Council to pass the West Area Specific Plan now and ensure that future development happens with community input, accountability, and fairness. This plan is about more than land use - it is about justice, dignity, and the future of West Fresno.
