We support the initiative for Punjabi language classes at Selma High School in Selma, CA. Following in the foot steps of other Punjabi language programs in high schools such as James Logan High School (Union City, CA), Yuba City High School (Yuba City, CA), River Valley High School (Yuba City, CA), Livingston High School (Livingston, CA), Central High School (Fresno, CA0 and Kerman High School (Kerman, CA), we the undersigned want to see the Punjabi language taught at Selma High School.
Selma High School has one of the oldest and largest Sikh communities in the region. Many students of Punjabi descent along with their non-Punjabi peers would love to see a program that can teach, engage, develop their skills in the Punjabi language. The program in Selma High would go along way to promoting economic skills, community building, and strengthen the feeling of neighborliness in the region and beyond.
We are appreciative of our partnership with Selma Unified School District in exploring this initiative with us. Please sign the petition, ask your family to sign it, ask your friends to sign it, ask your co-workers to sign-it, pass it around, spread it on social media - and let's make this a reality.
