Since the fall of 2021, the farmers and farmworkers of Punjab and other regions mobilized a historic 'Dilli/Delhi Challo' morcha/struggle in order to have 3 pro-corporate and anti-farmer bills rescinded. Taking stock of the morcha and its implications is critical and Dr. Varinderpal Singh is an important voice to provide some insights.
Dr. Varinderpal Singh is the Principal Soil Scientist at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Recently he was awarded the Golden Jubilee Award in 2020 for "Best Work Done in the Field of Plant Nutrition" but refused to receive the award in protest to the anti-farmer and farmer worker laws by the Government of India and in solidarity with those in the streets of Delhi. Such acts of courage are rare. In addition to his professional expertise in farming, Dr. Varinderpal Singh serves as the Chairman of Atam Pargas Social Welfare Council and has led the organization's efforts in supporting the families of the shaheed farmers of the morcha. He has also authored a number of children's books aimed at teaching Gurbani, Sikhi, and the Punjabi language.
We hope you'll attend and participate in this event with the Davis Sikh community.
