SHSS Senior Profiles:
Harnoor Singh Dhaliwal - Harnoor is a 17 years old senior, graduating from Central High School, West Campus. He writes, "I was 7 years old when I first went to a Jakara Juniors Camp. I love being part of Jakara Movement. I love volunteering and helping out our youth not just teaching the youth also learning myself. It feels really great helping out the community, not just helping out the community but meeting new people. I don't know what I would do without Jakara, it's been an amazing life experience! Jakara is my 2nd family! Next year I will be going to Fresno City College to complete my general education, before I plan to transfer to Fresno State For nursing."
Ramaneet Kaur Dhillon - Ramaneet is graduating from Buchanan High School. She writes, "I've become part of a family over the course of three years, forming life-long relationships with some of the people I love most. I've made countless connections with peers that I consider to be role models, whether I look up to them for academic guidance or simply for their fashion sense. I've learned to plan, organize, and execute successful projects, acquired leadership skills and strengthened my verbal and communication skills; qualities that are of great value after high school. Needless to say, being a part of The Jakara Movement has prepared me for 'real life.'"
Jasmeet Kaur Rakhra - Jasmeet is graduating from Central High School, East Campus. She writes, "I love being part of the Jakara Movement because its fun. I love to make new friends and learn about our culture, what happened to it and what came out of it. I love helping out the community and let them know who we are as Sikhs." Jasmeet will be attending Willow International in the Fall.
Simran Kaur Rakhra - Simran is also graduating with her sister from Central High School, East Campus. She writes, "My favorite part of being part of the Jakara Movement is the Bhujangan camp in the summer, strictly for high school girls. We learn so much from the volunteers that take us every year and I think being part of something like that gives you a great bond with everybody. Going to the camp helps us find who we are as person and what you will change in the world. Im proud that I joined Jakara because it has showed me how much I have the potential to do in the future, if I strive for it. Next year, I will be attending Fresno State, but I plan to absolutely continue helping out with the Movement."
We desire to honor all high schoolers, so please call Iqbal Singh at 559-677-SIKH (7454) or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org and share your child's accomplishment or come bring the high schooler in your life so that they can learn how to become part of the Sikh Honor and Service Society for next year and beyond. RSVP today!
We look forward to seeing you. Together, we can do amazing things; together, we are the future; together, we are the movement.
If you are inspired and would like to volunteer or donate - do it today!
