The longest-running Sikh conference in the US, Lalkaar is one of a kind. It creates a platform where difficult, thought-provoking, and inspirational conversations take place on topics ranging from but never limited to, The Guru Granth Sahib: The History of the Sikh Soul, Kaur Voices: Exhalt, Express, Empower, Gurudware: Empowering Local Democracy, 1984: The Battle of Amritsar & Beyond, and Building Begampura: Confronting Caste.
Our Sikh youth come together and create a forum in which these conversations flourish as we expand on and openly discuss issues that affect us as individuals and as a greater Panth. Now in its 26th year, the longevity of the conference speaks for itself. Join us as we continue these vital conversations.
This year we are returning to build another amazing year of Lalkaar, the longest running Sikh collegiate conference in the US! We'd love for you to apply to be part of the planning committee!
You will be working directly with Jakara Movement staff in a meaningful cohort (approximately 2-4 hours per week) to assist with content development, recruitment, marketing, community organizing, community engagement, and more until the conference.
This will be intense with skills and memories you will have for a lifetime. You will be able to deeply work as a team in forging a new future for the Sikh youth of California anchored by the largest Sikh organization that has served the Qaum for over a quarter century.

Upon selection, all committee members will be expected to pay the hotel fee prior to the conference. Instructions on how to do so will be sent prior to the conference.
Facilitators are the heart of Lalkaar, guiding critical conversations that shape our community. As a facilitator, you'll have the opportunity to lead discussions on topics ranging from Sikh history, social justice, and community empowerment.
This is a unique opportunity to engage with passionate Sikh youth, share your expertise, and help create transformative experiences. You'll work closely with the Lalkaar team to develop and deliver impactful sessions that inspire and challenge participants.
Whether you're an experienced educator, community leader, or passionate advocate, we welcome facilitators who are committed to fostering deep, meaningful dialogue and supporting the growth of our Panth.

We seek facilitators who can create safe spaces for difficult conversations, have expertise in relevant topics, and are committed to the growth and empowerment of Sikh youth. Experience in facilitation, education, or community organizing is preferred but not required.
