Start A j.Kommunity

Jakara local j.Kommunity chapters can be started after a group of Jakara affiliate members apply online to start a chapter. The only requirement is a commitment of five sevadars who will meet on a monthly basis. Constant communication between Jakara staff and Jakara chapters is imperative and will be facilitated by staff. Jakara serves to engage its members with their sangat on a grassroots level through efforts based on the Guru’s messages of service, social justice, and empowerment.

What is a local j.Kommunity chapter?

Jakara chapters are the backbone of the organization. Each regional group is responsible for being the face of the organization the local level while ensuring that the goals and mission of the organization is met. Each group region works internally on recruitment, the development and the implementation of local initiatives, while working with the overall movement to execute programs like the children’s camp at local Gurdwaras, as well as leadership training and development. If you are interested in being a part of a group of like-minded Sikhs in your area or at your university who are just as committed to seeing change in our community, join today!

We already have communities in Sacramento, Pittsburgh, San Jose, Fresno, Kerman, Bakersfield, Orange County, Los Angeles, Riverside County.  We are always looking to strengthen existing ones and start new ones.
